Gun violence prevention hearing
People get to speak to politicians who want to pass bills that ban firearms before they vote. Guy gets up and he wants to make a few points:
- People have the right to defend themselves.
- In the past firearms were much more common. A lot of schools had rifle classes and gun clubs. A lot more people had guns in the past. In the past they did not have all these school shootings even though they had more guns. But today with guns more regulated and now that politicians made schools gun free zones we have a lot more school shootings.
- 10,000 students protested for there rights in Tiananmen Square in China. If the students had the right to be armed maybe less of them would have disappeared after that protest.
- United States verses Miller 1939 - It was made clear that the type of firearms protected by the second amendment where those that are useful and common for military use.
- If the Korean business owners did not have AK-47's and AR-15 rifles during the L.A. riots then their businesses would have been burnt down like everyone else's. Their business did not get burned down because they were well armed and they stood there ground.
- Free people who allow themselves to be unarmed will not remain free for long.
- Unarmed people can only flee from evil. And evil is not overcome by fleeing from it.
- If gun control did work then Washington DC and Chicago would be the safest cities in America. But they are not, they have the toughest gun laws and the highest crime and murder rates.
- Gun control laws are not about controlling guns. It's about controlling people.
